An understanding of history does much to define who we are and who we will become - not just dates and events but our personal history; our upbringing, our culture, our tragedies and our joys.
In no previous time, have so many tools been available to record personal history, yet we continue to fail to document our stories.
Countless times, we hear - "I wish I had asked Mom about that...... I can't remember the story that Grandpa used to tell.......I can't remember how we were related to them, I wish Dad was here to ask..."
Many people plan to document their family history and their memoirs someday. Someday is too late. If you don't recount your experiences, it will be lost. Your tales, the tales of your parents/grandparents are important and help bind families together.

Our goal is to provide the tools and expertise to help familes retain and preserve their history. Whether it is digitizing those faded 100 year old photos, polaroids and film images, capturing VHS or slides before they deteriorate and are lost forever or producing personal history video and audio at a reasonable cost that will encourage everyone to save their history for generations to come.
There are online services that require you to mail your most precious memories and treasures to distant locations and trust that they will be treated with care. "Back In the Day" is locally based in central Mississippi. You can visit our offices and discuss your needs with us in person and rest assured that your original media will be treated with care. We'll even come to you if that serves your needs better - whether it's a single photograph or tape or a box full of memories.
There are many companies that will produce vanity and tribute videos with slick graphics, background music and detailed editing. We can do that too. But for most folks, the cost (usually in the $3000-$5000 range) is prohibitive. These videos often appear dated and contrived over time.
Our goals center around:
creating a permanent record of an individual's life, connections to family and historical events in their lifetime so that future generations can understand and feel connected to their history
at a cost that almost anyone can afford
provide a means to share and safeguard this record for the current and future generations of the family
